Bill Maher's take on State of the Union address

I would have really preferred to see a strong defense of macro -economics (0.00 / 0)

instead of buying into right wing frames.

His sentences dealing with Social Secuirty did nothing to re-assure me either, in fact, his word choices and sentence structure raises more questions for me about his commitment to strenghthening Social Security:

To put us on solid ground, we should also find a bipartisan solution to strengthen Social Security for future generations.  (Applause.)  We must do it without putting at risk current retirees, the most vulnerable, or people with disabilities; without slashing benefits for future generations; and without subjecting Americans' guaranteed retirement income to the whims of the stock market.  (Applause.)

I see that word~ bipartisan~ coming from him and I just check to see what the GOP position is because that's what it has turned out to be: bipartisan = GOP position in Obama speak.

Interesting choice of words: current retirees, rather than saying ALL of those (0.00 / 0)

who pay into the Social Security Trust will not see their benefits put at risk.

Interesting and quite deliberate I'm guessing.
