Bush's Last Day
01/20/2009
Election

It's time to stop making excuses . . .

by: Jan A

Sun Oct 26, 2008 at 13:18:58 PM EDT

and get to a local phone bank any day of the week or canvass in NH on Nov. 1st or help with the GOTV in NH on Nov. 4th.

Anyone who is complacent about the election is living in a dream world.  We have to work until the last vote is cast to make sure that New Hampshire stays blue.  It is the swing state closest to Massachusetts and they really, really, really need our help.  Don't listen to the media and the polls.  They are meaningless without the real votes on November 4th.

Here are your options:

Phone bank in Marshfield or Quincy.  There is help needed at both centers every day until election day.  Addresses are 988 Plain Street, Marshfield and 1458 Hancock Street-3rd floor, Quincy Center

Canvassing. Join one of the numerous buses from Mass. going to New Hampshire this coming weekend. See contacts on flip to find out hours.

Get Out the Vote. Vote early and volunteer to help get the vote out in NH on election day.

Imagine if you wake up on November 5th and find out McCain has won by a mere 4 electoral votes (NH's number).  How will you feel?

Now imagine you wake up and discover Barack Obama is the president-elect and you helped him get there. How will you feel?

Please help now.  10 days from now is too late.

Contact info on flip.

A discussion with Senator Edward M. Kennedy

by: Liberal Linda

Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 19:47:20 PM EDT

The WBZ Business Breakfast Series event was held at the Westin Copley yesterday morning in the newly refurbished Ballroom of the hotel. Free breakfast at a nice hotel, with Ted Kennedy as the guest speaker, is a wonderful way to start out the work week.

Fresh fruit plates were set out with baskets of fresh rolls, muffins and croissants.  Plenty of coffee was served and extra urns of coffee were placed at each table.

Ted has been in the Senate for 46 years.  In the year 2012, it will be his 5oth year as Senator of Massachusetts.  That same year Fenway Park will celebrate 100 years.  Ted's grandfather, Honey Fitz threw out the first ball in 1912, at Fenway Park.

McCain is Dangerous

by: Liberal Linda

Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 05:50:32 AM EST

(I wanted to share this article that was written by my friend Dunk.   - promoted by Liberal Linda)

After watching James Carville on Larry King Live, I couldn't sleep.  Here was the pit bull, I thought could always be counted on to go for the Republican jugular, genuflecting to their standard bearer.  It was the most disturbing sign that the "mainline" Democrats are gearing up to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again.  I am referring to the invertebrate behavior of deference and respect they are all extending to the "character" of John McCain.  Whether it be Baracillary or their surrogates, civil exceptions to his policies are always accompanied by homage to him as "a great American."  Well, just hand him the bloody election, why don't they.

Enterprise "unreservedly" endorses Jass Stewart

by: Jan A

Sun Nov 04, 2007 at 19:34:31 PM EST

The Enterprise, Brockton's primary newspaper, has "unreservedly" endorsed Jass Stewart's vision for the city and his election as mayor.

There's an amazing success story waiting to unfold in Brockton.

On Tuesday voters have the opportunity to empower the person who can help turn that positive vision into tangible reality.

Jass Stewart has the plan, the professionalism and the demeanor to lead Brockton through its current challenges and into a new world of opportunities.

Deval backs Obama

by: Liberal Linda

Wed Oct 17, 2007 at 19:12:01 PM EDT

Boston Globe reports

Before the last governors' race I remember going into Boston to the Hynes Convention Center and attending a rally for Deval Patrick with the guest superstar speaker Barack Obama.  As the sports announcers say, "The crowd's gone wild, the fans are on their feet".  You really could feel the electricity in the air that night.  The dynamic duo.  Just like Batman & Robin.  We were like groupies.  We  paid 50 bucks for tickets, and we had been standing for hours, but after their turns at the podium to speak, and the crowd screamed for more.

Now Deval Patrick is stepping up to the plate for Barack Obama.  I think Deval's endorsement will give Barack a positive boost in the New England area.  Maybe the two of them can get a spark going and ignite Barack's campaign. Fired up and ready to go.

Both men speak of hope.  We certainly do need more hope.  Just to be able to get the energy back to enable us to work together, we need a positive outlook.  Lets face it, following the Bush administration, we're going to have our work cut out for us.

I'm wondering who Ted Kennedy will endorse.

Get the Scoop Ice Cream Social with Barack Obama in Hudson NH

by: Liberal Linda

Mon Sep 03, 2007 at 21:33:32 PM EDT

The Labor Day weather was ideal for an afternoon "Ice Cream Social with Barack Obama".  The event was held at the Dr. H.O. Smith School on School Street in Hudson, New Hampshire.  Plenty of seating was provided in the shade to sit in and relax while enjoying a scoop of ice cream.  There were rows of folding chairs, many picnic tables and risers placed in the back to allow a good view of the candidate.  Still, there was standing room only as the crowd topped 1,000 people in my guess-ta-mation.  This was the 4th  Obama event of the day in NH (counting the parade in Milford), so for such a large amount of people to show-up was impressive.

They came to get the scoop, and have a scoop, with Barack.  The voters were treated to a choice of flavors.  You could have chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, or mint chocolate chip scoops.
Can't beat free ice cream on a beautiful summer day in New Hampshire.

'Inmates' stalking for Healey

by: Liberal Linda

Sat Oct 21, 2006 at 08:09:32 AM EDT

The Healey campaign is dipping to new low tacticts
to scare the stuffing out of the public.

Todays Boston Globearticle describes yesterdays events by the 'inmates' wearing orange jumpsuit supporters.

The first I heard of these characters was when it was reported on the news that they were roughing up Deval supporters at the rally being held outside of the debate on Thursday night.

The devil you know

by: Jan A

Tue Jul 18, 2006 at 14:24:56 PM EDT

Recently arrested Plymouth Selectman Sean Dodgson beat former Selectman Ken Tavares by a little over 100 votes.  I know both men and I voted for Ken.  He is a dedicated town official who did his homework and served the town well for many years.  In their thirst for change, the town's voters decided to elect a newbie.  Even Dodgson attributed his win to a public tired of the old rather than for any particular policy stand he had taken.

Sean Dodgson, 45, who had never held public office, shocked the Plymouth political world when he toppled Tavares by more than 100 votes two weeks ago.

‘‘In this case it was the devil that you don’t know instead of the devil that you do,’’ Dodgson said.

Tavares, who had been involved in town government since 1971 and had been chairman of the selectmen since 1998, said it wasn’t any one thing that added up to his ouster.

‘‘The longer you’re there, sometimes you displease people,’’ Tavares said. ‘‘It was a combination of things.’’

Dodgson, a West Point graduate who runs his own computer company, said he spent $500 of his own money to win the campaign.

‘‘It wasn’t so much me, it was the hot emotional topics,’’ Dodgson said.
